Meet Bright Feathers
Counselling for adults, teens and parents navigating overwhelm, burnout, identity and life changes.
Hi, I’m Mel, an ACA-registered counsellor, educator and late-diagnosed neurodivergent adult. I bring professional training and lived experience to practical, compassionate support.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to be welcome here.
Meet me on Fridays at Evolve Hub in Charlestown, or connect online, by phone or through walk-and-talk counselling.
Counselling is $156.16, including a 50-minute session and 10 minutes for notes. A free 20-minute introductory chat is available.
Support that fits you
Through counselling, hypnotherapy, and consulting, we’ll find the approach that works best for you: practical, collaborative, and always grounded in compassion.

Counselling
Life can be overwhelming, especially when you’re carrying invisible loads like anxiety, burnout, or emotional exhaustion. Whether you’re navigating a diagnosis, parenting challenges, past trauma, or simply feeling stuck, counselling offers a safe, respectful space to pause, reflect, and grow. I support adults, teens, and parents using a neuroaffirming, trauma-aware approach grounded in both lived and clinical experience. Sessions are warm, flexible, and focused on your goals, whether that’s clarity, self-regulation, stronger relationships, or just feeling more like yourself again.

Individual Educational Consulting
& Group Workshops
Clinical Hypnotherapy
If you’re supporting others as a parent, teacher, therapist, or NDIS professional, you deserve support too. I offer practical, insight-driven consulting to help you better understand neurodivergent needs, navigate challenges, and build truly inclusive, respectful support systems. Consulting sessions can cover topics like emotional regulation, executive functioning, skill-building, NDIS navigation, school collaboration, family dynamics, or adapting support plans. I also run tailored workshops for parent and staff groups, designed to meet your team’s unique goals and needs, whether you’re in education, early childhood, or therapeutic settings. With over 15 years’ experience in education, behaviour support, and neurodivergent family life, I support you and your team with warmth, clarity, and grounded expertise.
Hypnotherapy offers a collaborative way to explore goals such as habits, confidence and stress. We adapt the approach to your sensory needs, communication preferences and ways of focusing. You can ask questions, pause or stop at any time. Sessions are $230 for 60 minutes. Results vary, and counselling without hypnosis is also available.

Meet Mel
Hi, I’m Mel! A counsellor, clinical hypnotherapist, educator, and neurodivergent parent of a neurodivergent child.
I bring over 15 years' of experience in education, behaviour support, and therapeutic work, and I offer a calm, inclusive space for people of all ages to feel seen, supported, and empowered.
At Bright Feathers, I combine clinical training with lived experience to walk alongside you in your journey. I also offer walk-and-talk sessions in local outdoor spaces such as Redhead Beach and Speers Point Park, blending nature, movement, and meaningful conversation.
People often come to me when they’re:
😞 Feeling constantly overwhelmed or exhausted, even though they’re “coping” on the outside
🧠 Late-diagnosed (or questioning) ADHD or autism and trying to make sense of themselves
👩👧👦 Unsure how to support their neurodivergent child at home or school without things escalating
🌪️ Stuck in overthinking, burnout, or cycles that don’t seem to shift no matter how hard they try
Together, we work in a way that’s practical, neuroaffirming, and grounded in real life, so things start to feel clearer, calmer, and more manageable.
After working together, clients often say they feel:
🌤️ Less overwhelmed and more in control of their thoughts and energy
🛠️ Equipped with strategies that actually work for their brain (not against it)
🤝 Understood without needing to mask, explain, or justify themselves
🌱 More confident making decisions and moving forward in a way that feels right for them
